Network and Systems Administrator

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced IT Network, Systems, and Cloud Service Administrator to join our IT Operations team. This role will be the primary, on-site IT Administrator for our Calgary office, supporting multiple, independent Carina business units and their IT operations.  This unique IT landscape includes separate (isolated) physical networks, security domains, and IT infrastructure for each business unit to support their security needs and unique operating requirements. 

The individual network environments run on standardized infrastructure, and standard operating procedures to streamline the day-to-day IT operations within the site.
 

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become the primary on-site IT Network and Systems Administrator for the 2 Calgary-based business units, as well as remote support for our Toronto-based Head Office.
  • Use your proven VMware, MS-HYPER-V, Windows Server, and Microsoft network skills (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) to ensure a secure, and stable internal landscape for each business.
  • Administer Hybrid (On-premises) Active Directory and Azure AD services for each business, including user account policies, profiles, and standard GPO-based system configurations.
  • Support multiple MS-365 tenants, (MS-365 Business Premium) including Azure-AD, Defender for Business, Exchange, MS-Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Autopilot administration.
  • Administer multiple internal networks, including secure RADIUS-based 802.1x wired, and wireless networks, Fortinet network equipment, and Unifi wireless networks.
  • Incorporate methodical network troubleshooting skills, including a solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, corporate firewalls, and VPN technologies.
  • Oversee scheduled outages for Windows software patching for the site (WSUS), and coordinate patching of all software platforms.
  • Provide printer support and oversee preventative maintenance with external vendors.
  • Monitor backups, including cloud-based Azure-Backup resources.
  • Support ISO 27001 compliance and certification efforts for all BU’s, including providing and maintaining documentation, including system configurations (Configuration Management), and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide exemplary customer service skills in all your dealings with BU staff and management.

Mandatory Skills/Experience:
  • 5-8 years IT systems and network administration experience, with advanced understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, and VMware.
  • 5-8 years’ experience supporting OEM hardware, including server, storage, desktop, laptop hardware, and working with OEM vendors for support.
  • 3-5 years’ experience supporting Microsoft-365 resources, including Azure-AD, Exchange, and MS-Teams
  • 3-5 Years supporting Azure IaaS, or AWS-ec2, IaaS environments.
  • 2-3 years’ experience supporting Linux.
  • Process-centric, and experience preparing and following change-controls, and documenting configuration changes.
  • Must have excellent English communication skills (verbal and written), and the maturity to work alone (un-supervised)

Desired Skills/Certifications:
  • Experience with ITIL/ITSM IT Management processes
  • Experience with Fortinet/FortiGate network and security systems.
  • Cisco CCNA or Fortinet equivalent
  • A+, or current Microsoft Certifications
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft-365 and Azure is an asset.
  • Linux system administration
